With breathtaking views of the Howgills and the surrounding countryside, the property was constructed in the early 1600s and as is equipped to a high standard with antique furniture and many original features. The farmhouse kitchen is impressive and boasts low beams, stone flooring and a cosy wood-burning stove. The spacious lounge offers an open fire to provide guests with a warm, comfortable holiday cottage in a stunning, tranquil setting. With so much to see and do in the surrounding area, visitors will be spoiled for choice.

Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dryer, small TV (for DVDs only), DVD, stereo/CD, books/games, WiFi (can be intermittent). Electricity inc. in rent. Initial supply of fuel for woodburner & open fire inc. in rent (purchase extra from owner). Bed linen & towels inc. in rent. Cot & highchair on request. Off road parking for 4 cars. Garden with patio & furniture. Storage area for bikes/hiking gear. Sorry, no smoking. 2 well-behaved pets welcome. Shop 6 miles, pub 3 miles. Note: No TV channels. Note: Water supplied from fell; safe for washing but brown in appearance & can taste "peaty"; please bring own bottled water for drinking. Note: Cottage accessed via 500 yard long track - access difficult in very snowy/icy/wet conditions. Note: Due to intermittent WiFi signal in the property, guests are welcome to use WiFi at The Kings Head pub in Ravenstonedale. |

For the historically minded, Cumbria offers a wealth of Celtic monuments, Roman remains, stately homes and ruined abbeys. Carlisle still has some of its ancient walls standing, as well as a Norman castle, and the western part of Hadrian’s Wall is nearby. Other places of interest include Penrith, with its castle and remarkably unchanged market square; Keswick, which was once the centre of pencil manufacturing; the busy market town of Kendal and Cockermouth, Wordsworth’s birthplace
